I guess this will become a growing pain for people, so I am keeping notes.
Hi G. (a FreeBSD user) & P. (an MS Win 10 user)
G:
P. mentioned on phone that before he can upgrade to MS
Windows 11 ('cos MS will soon withdraw support for 10,
(though one can pay MS GBP 35 to extend deadline by a year
!)), that he would need to add support for TPM Version
2.
His PC only has TPM V 1, his vendor didn't want to add #2
at purchase.
[MS ?] offer some program one can run on an MS PC to list
what needs to be added to support MS-11.
I wondered
what TPM might be ?
& what TPM V. 2 might be ?
& if it would need a new main board or maybe a
simple plug in PCI board
(& if so whether TPM V11 on main board might need
to be switched off in BIOS ?
& if TPM was to do with UEFI boot, (a previous
hardware abuse to the world from MS).
I only read down to:
"By making changes to Windows Registry or installation media,
you can bypass any TPM restrictions and unblock Windows 11,
basically allowing anyone to upgrade their existing machine
to the new operating system.
In addition to TPM, you can also bypass the SecureBoot
restriction."
